We’ve talked about savings here on Peak Personal Finance before, but haven’t gotten into what the best savings account rates are for money markets, which traditionally have the highest savings account interest rate available. Today, we’re going to look at what some of the best high interest savings accounts are nationally.
First, we’ll look at standard money markets with small minimum deposits and then we’ll look at $10,000+ deposit requirement accounts to see what the best high yield saving account rates are. We will sort by annual percentage yield (APY).
Standard Money Market Account Rates
The best savings account rates in money market right now are from Heartland Bank Direct with a 2.30% APY and a $500 minimum balance requirement. Then comes GMAC Bank at 2.25% APY and only $1 minimum. Finally, the third highest savings account interest rate is at OneWest Bank at 2.25% APY with a $1,000 minimum. All three of these banks have no monthly fees.
$10,000+ Minimum Money Market Account Rates
Looking at accounts with a $10,000 or higher deposit requirement for deposit to get a good interest rate, the list is the same as the above. In fact, unless you have more than $50,000 to deposit into the money market, the best high interest savings accounts are still at Heartland Bank.
So if you’re looking for somewhere to put your money in the short term or as a savings plan for emergencies, find the best high yield savings account rates and use them to advantage. There’s no reason for that money to sit idle!
All banks listed here are FDIC insured and all accounts are available nationally, in branches or online.
